The Culver Hoop House is just one of the projects that has come to be through Leadership Evansville’s Community Leadership Program. With the purpose of promoting better nutrition and health, LE alumni decided to create a community garden for the students and families of the Culver Learning Center.
Beyond the actual creation of the gardens that are now known as the Culver Hoop House, the project served as an educational experience for the community members. The project increased student and family knowledge of healthy foods and proper eating habits. With the engagement of the Culver Learning Center and family, as well as the neighbors in the area, the Hoop House project provided a sustainable gardening system that has helped to provide food and education to the local community.
